Edgewood tops men’s pre-season links poll

Waukesha

Edgewood was the Coaches' choice in the Northern Athletics Conference preseason men's golf poll, followed by Aurora and MSOE, the conference announced Wednesday.

Edgewood, which was runner-up to Aurora at last season's NAC championship and winner of the spring AQ meet, is looking for its first NAC title since capturing the league's inaugural championship in 2006.

Benedictine was picked fourth in the poll, just a point behind MSOE. Lakeland and Marian were picked fifth and sixth, while Concordia Wisconsin and Wisconsin Lutheran tied for seventh in the poll.

Dominican, which is competing in its first season of intercollegiate play in the sport, was ninth in the poll followed by Rockford in the 10th and final spot.

The 2010 NAC Championship takes place on Oct. 10-11, at Whistling Straits, The Irish Course in Kohler. In the spring the 10 teams will meet again for the 2011 NAC Spring AQ Meet on Apr. 18-19. The combination of the NAC championship in the fall and the AQ meet in the spring determines which team receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA III Championship next May.
