Golfers face talented opposition at UW- Eau Claire

Freshman Steven Roberts shot 169 for two rounds to lead the CUW linksters at the UW-Eau Claire Invitational over the weekend.

Eric Hertel (175); Greg Rusch (175), and Jon Waters (181) had the other counting scores for Concordia.

"Needless to say, we did not accomplish our goal over the weekend. It was a beneficial experience, but it fell far below our expectations," offered CUW Coach Ray Engelking in reference to the Falcon finish.

"Both days we had 25+ MPH winds. The course had fescue 2 to 3 foot high along all of the fairways. Gusts hit 45 MPH. You would think that would be the difference maker- it wasn't for us; putting killed us."

Eight NAC schools were part of the field with Ray Engelking's team finishing ahead of Marian and Wisconsin Lutheran foursomes.
