MEQUON, Wis. – It was an epic showdown in the John Buuck Fieldhouse on Friday night as the Falcons fought against previously unbeaten Wisconsin Lutheran Warriors. The Falcons handed WLC its first loss of the season with a 76-74 victory.
Junior Brandon Keller (Plymouth, Wis.) put up the first points on the board for the Falcons in the 19th second of the first half.
Senior Jordan Johnson (Cedarburg, Wis.) tallied 28 points for the Falcons. Keller tallied 14 total points. He also broke the school record for career field goals at Concordia.
Johnson would be 11-11 in free throws and 3-3 in three-point baskets for the night.
The Blue and White would total 37 rebounds for the night, 27 of them being defensive rebounds.
The second half of the game would be close scoring and Concordia would tie it up with 36 seconds left in regulation.
With three seconds left, senior Joey Zietlow (Oak Creek, Wis.) would make two free throws to go up 76-74 on the Warriors.
The Falcons would clinch the nail biter 76-74.
Concordia will rematch the Warriors on Saturday night at 5:30 in the John Buuck Fieldhouse.
