Sabres upend CUW in overtime

MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW men's basketball team dropped a heartbreaker on Friday night with a trio of free throws with 0.3 seconds remaining to fall, 85-84.

The Falcons jumped out to an early 10-2 lead in the first three minutes of the game.

The Sabres continued to chip away at the lead in the first half and took a 39-34 lead into halftime.

The two teams battled back-and-forth in the second half and exchanged the lead multiple times.

Trailing 73-76, sophomore Grant Karsten (Decatur, Ill.) sank three free throws with 10 seconds remaining to send the game into overtime.

Senior Jordan Johnson (Cedarburg, Wis.) gave the Falcons the lead with 12 seconds remaining in overtime on a jump shot, but the Sabres walked away with a victory after hitting three free throws with 0.3 left on the clock.

Jordan Johnson led CUW with 22 points on Friday, with senior Joey Zietlow (Oak Creek, Wis.) adding 20 and junior Brandon Keller (Plymouth, Wis.) with 14.

The Falcons look to get revenge on Saturday night.
