Free Throws Play Key Role in Saturday’s Game

MEQUON, Wis. – The Wisconsin Lutheran Warriors used 13-straight free throws to get back into Saturday's game featuring the top-two teams in the NACC North Division. The Warriors escaped with a 90-82 victory to bounce back from Friday's loss at CUW to improve to 7-1 and send CUW to 5-4.

The Warriors opened the game on an 11-0 run to start the first three minutes of the game, the Falcons did not fold and continued to hang around and chip the lead down to 42-36 at halftime.

Sophomore Grant Karsten (Decatur, Ill.) led the flock in the first half with 11 points and freshman Zech Hans (Oconomowoc, Wis.) scored his first collegiate points.

The Falcons opened the second half with a 12-0 run to take the lead for the first time on the night. Grant Karsten had six points in the run.

A free throw from junior Jared Jurss (Sheboygan, Wis.) put the Falcons up 74-61 with 6:25 left.

The visitors then went on a stretch of scoring 13-straight free throws to get back in the game and then took the lead with a pair of three-point baskets.

Senior Jordan Johnson (Cedarburg, Wis.) scored a layup with 14 seconds left to tie the school record for career point.

The Green and White converted on 24 of their 31 free throws in the second half and finished 29 of 36 on the night. CUW finished at 12 for 17.

Grant Karsten and Jordan Johnson led CUW with 20 points each.

The Falcons return to action on Friday night at MSOE.
