Kahlfeldt nets 29 to lead Men's Basketball past Finlandia

HANCOCK, Mich. – Keith Kahlfeldt was feeling it from downtown on Monday evening with a career-high six 3-pointers to lead Concordia University Wisconsin past Finlandia University, 88-64, inside the Paavo Nurmi Center.

Kahlfeldt (sophomore, New Berlin, Wis.) was efficient in both halves and finished 11-of-18 from the field, but it was the Falcons 26-10 outburst over the last six minutes that turned the game into a lopsided contest.

CUW forced 23 turnovers and converted the FU errors into 23 points. The Falcons have forced 20 or more turnovers in three straight games. In addition, 15 offensive rebounds led to a 25-10 positive differential in second chance points.

Kahlfeldt also pulled down a team-high-tying eight rebounds. Freshman Eric Kittel (Brillion, Wis.) tallied all 13 of his points in the second half, to go along with five rebounds and three assists. Sophomores Bradley Prinsen (Oostburg, Wis.) and Dustin Thumann (Marshfield, Wis.) each finished with 11 points. Prinsen also hauled in a career-high eight rebounds.

Dominic Morrow paced the Lions with 21 points and 12 rebounds, while Brandon Robinson had 18 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals off the bench. Matt Strong also had 10 points, six rebounds and four assists.

The Falcons led by single digits for most of the first half before taking a 12-point advantage, 41-29, into the locker room. CUW led by just three points with 9:49 before the break before its defensive pressure forced seven Lion miscues before the intermission. Prinsen went 6-of-8 from the free throw line in the opening period.

The scoreboard fluctuated between an eight and 15 point led for CUW (5-5) before a Robinson layup got FU (2-13) to within eight points with six minutes and 31 seconds to play in the game.

Down the stretch, the Falcons were 7-of-12 from the field and 8-of-10 from the free throw line to get back to .500 in the standings.

CUW returns to the court on Saturday for a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference matchup at Rockford University starting at 2 p.m.
