Men's Basketball chosen sixth in NACC Preseason Poll

WAUKESHA, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin was chosen sixth in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Men's Basketball Preseason Poll, which is voted by the league's head coaches and athletic communicators.

The Falcons finished the 2012-13 campaign with a 19-9 overall record and a 12-4 record, which was a game short of winning the North Division. They advanced to the NACC Tournament Semifinals before falling to Lakeland College on the road.

The defending NACC champion Aurora University has been picked to repeat as the league's front-runners. The Spartans have won five of the league's first seven championships, including a pair of South Division titles during that span. They tallied 12 of the 22 first-place votes and 223 points, while Lakeland College garnered seven top votes and 211 points. Marian University was slotted third with a trio of first-place nods and 184 points.

This season the NACC has reverted to traditional non-divisional standings for both men's and women's basketball. The men's teams will play a full 20-game double-round-robin schedule.

MSOE was fourth with 161 points, Benedictine University fifth with 147 points and Concordia University Wisconsin closely followed in sixth with 145 points. Dominican University was picked seventh with 120 points, Edgewood College eighth with 84 points and Rockford University ninth with 81 points. Wisconsin Lutheran College (51 points) and Concordia University Chicago (45 points) rounded out the poll's final two spots.

The NACC's regular season standings determine the teams that qualify for the eight-team conference tournament, while the tournament champion receives the league's automatic bid to the NCAA III Championship Tournament.
