Hoch’s 39 leads Carroll past CUW
Waukesha
Guard John Hoch was a one man wrecking crew, scoring 39 points in
leading his Carroll squad (3-1) to a 78-73 win over CUW on
Sunday.
The Falcons (3-3) started strong, building first half leads of up
to 14 points before settling for a 40-36 margin at the break.
Concordia shot 59% in the first half.
Carroll appeared to have assumed control midway through the final
half, building leads of up to 7 points, but Shawn Cassidy's team
rallied and trailed by just 75-73 with 90 seconds to play before
going ice cold down the stretch.
Kyle Barth led CUW with 18 points and 9 rebounds while Skip
Newton-Kemp added 14 and hauled in 7 rebounds.
"We played extremely hard today but came up short on those last
three possessions," offered Cassidy.
"My hope is that we grew as a team against a couple of very good
opponents this weekend. We have a quick turnaround with a
conference game against Rockford on Tuesday."
Hoch was sensational, knocking down 14 of 21 shots including 4 of 6
from long range. He added 7 of 8 from the charity stripe.
