Women's Track & Field has strong day at St. Norbert meet

DE PERE, Wis. - It was a good day for the Concordia University Wisconsin Women's Track & Field team at the St. Norbert Quadrangular. The Falcons had five individual titles, while juniors Nicole Larson and Colleen Sauvey set school records. CUW finished third at the seven-team meet. In addition CUW posted a win in the 4X400-meter relay.

THE BASICS
- Falcons Score: 150.5 points (3rd of 7)
- Location: Donald J. Schneider Stadium – De Pere, Wis.
- Individual Champions: Cassandra Sprotte (800); Marya Haegler (5,000); Nora Imperl (3,000 Steeplechase); Nicole Larson (Pole Vault); 4X400-meter relay team; Morgan Marnholtz (Triple Jump)
- School Records: Larson (Pole Vault – 3.85 meters); Colleen Sauvey (Hammer Throw – 48.81 meters).

HIGHLIGHTS
- Larson posted another individual title in the pole vault, breaking her own school and NACC record in the process. She cleared 3.85 meters to top the field of 15 competitors.

- Sauvey (De Pere, Wis.) broke her own school record in the hammer throw, which she set a few weeks ago. She landed a throw of 48.81 meters, placing third in the event in her hometown.

- The Falcons had a strong performance in the 800, led by Sprotte's (Abbotsford, Wis.) 4:56.32. She was followed by sophomore Paulina Agnello (Brookfield, Wis.), who finished second with a time of 4:57.64. Overall, the Falcons had five in the top nine in the event.

- Haegler returned to competition in style, winning the 5,000 with a time of 18:23.79. She won the event by nearly 30 seconds.

- Imperl (Greenfield, Wis.) impressed in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:39.02 for the individual title. She won the race which featured eight runners.

- Marnholtz (Merrill, Wis.) posted the top effort in the triple jump, leaping 10.89 meters. She added a fourth-place finish in the long jump, recording a leap of 5.06 meters. Freshman Courtney Van Damme (Omro, Wis.) placed fifth in the triple jump at 10.20 meters. Marnholtz also placed second in the 400-meter dash, running a 1:03.10.

- The Falcons had second and third place finishes in the 100-meter dash Saturday from freshman Jennifer Miller (Freedom, Wis.) and Sauvey. Miller was just off the school record, crossing the finish line in 12.99 seconds, while Sauvey came in at 13.15.

- The Falcons 4X400-meter team won a race of four teams, finishing in a time of 4:14.73.

- Senior Karli Tatum (Milwaukee, Wis.) had another strong effort in the shot put, finishing third. She landed a throw of 12.47 meters.

- Freshman Chloe Eckstein (Reedsville, Wis.) finished fourth in the javelin throw, landing a throw of 32.02 meters.

- The Falcons are set for the NACC Outdoor Championships which are scheduled for next Friday and Saturday at Benedictine.
