Falcons Finish Fifth at WPC Championships

WAUKESHA, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's track & field team had a strong showing at the Wisconsin Private College Championships on Saturday. The Falcons finished in fifth place with 65 points. St. Norbert took home the team title with 166 points. The Blue and White claimed two titles on the day.

The Falcons opened the day with a victory in the 4x100-meter relay. The team of junior Maya Hielscher (Macomb, Mich.), senior Jenna Zahorik (Reedsville, Wis.), freshman Emma Eilertson (Mukwonago, Wis.) and senior Sabrina Moore (Park Ridge, Ill.) won with a time of 49.47.

Sophomore Carly Griesemer (Slinger, Wis.) claimed the private college state title in the pole vault at 3.21 meters.

Jenna Zahorik claimed the silver medal in the 200-meter dash at 25.89. Jenna Zahorik and Sabrina Moore both qualified for the 100-meter dash finals on Saturday. Zahorik finished in second place at 12.50.

Concordia soared in the high jump on Saturday with three Falcons in the top 10. Emma Eilertson was third at 1.50 meters. In ninth place was Maya Hielscher at 1.45 meters and senior Auden Pearson (Kaukauna, Wis.) in 10th place at 1.40 meters.

Freshman Olivia Ebel (Mt. Clemens, Mich.) won the bronze medal in the 400-meter hurdles at 1:11.17.

In the long jump pit, Sabrina Moore secured fourth place with a mark of 5.21 meters and Maya Hielscher was fifth at 5.17 meters.

Senior Jamie Maas (West Bend, Wis.) led the Falcons in the javelin throw in fifth place at 31.18 meters.

There was a trio of Falcons inside the top 10 of the 1500-meter run with sophomore Melanie Arvis (Berwyn, Ill.) in seventh place at 4:58.74, in eighth place was senior Anessa Yim (Spokane, Wash.) at 4:58.74 and freshman Emma Ahrens (Stephens City, Va.) in ninth place at 4:59.06.

Freshman Lorin Laney (Columbus, Ohio) competed in the 100-meter hurdles and finished in 10th place at 18.46.

Sophomore Kailey Ramaker (Cedarburg, Wis.) had the best mark for Concordia in the discus throw at 33.89 meters in 13th place.

Freshman Abigail Lange (Pleasant Prairie, Wis.) was the fastest Falcon in the 5000-meter run in 14th place at 20:18.57.

In the 400-meter dash, sophomore Amber Fietzer (Manawa, Wis.) finished 16th at 1:07.82. She also led the Falcons in the triple jump at 8.79 meters.

The evening ended with the shot put competition and freshman Paige Schreiber (Dousman, Wis.) led the Falcons in 17th place at 10.56 meters.

The Birds were led by senior Abigail Van Rixel (Athens, Wis.) in the 800-meter run in 20th place at 2:40.12.

Senior Morgan Huntley (Hillsboro, Wis.) led the Falcons in the hammer throw in 23rd place with a mark of 32.54 meters.

Concordia finished the day with a seventh-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay. The team of Melanie Arvis, freshman Kylee Camble (Cudahy, Wis.), Anessa Yim and Olivia Ebel wrapped up at 4:31.76.

The Falcons return to action on Saturday at the Beloit Relays.
