Women's Track & Field captures Private College Invite title

KENOSHA, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Women's Track & Field team had an impressive showing Saturday at the Private College Invite, capturing a team title with 139.50 points, holding off host Carthage College for the championship. The Falcons had two individual winners, as well as a victory in the distance medley relay en route to the impressive meet title.

THE BASICS
- Falcons Score: 139.50 points (1st out of 10 teams)
- Individual Champions: Nicole Larson (pole vault – NACC and School Record – 3.79 meters) Karli Tatum (weight throw – 14.49 meters)
- Relay Champions: Distance Medley Relay (12:58.51 - School Record – Nora Imperl, Carolyn Arndt, Molly Wirtz, Cassandra Sprotte).
- Location: Carthage College – Kenosha, Wis.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- It started with Larson (Milwaukee, Wis.) who has now competed in two meets for the Falcons and set the NACC record in the pole vault in both. This time Larson vaulted herself into third in the national rankings and she trails the two athletes tied for first by .01 meters. It has been an incredible start for Larson in a Falcons uniform as she continues to reach new heights in the event.

- Tatum (Milwaukee, Wis.) had another strong showing as well, placing first in the weight throw with a personal-best 14.49 meters. She also posted a second-place finish in the shot put, recording a mark of 12.12 meters.

- The distance medley relay team of Imperl (Greenfield, Wis.), Arndt (Rochester, Minn.), Wirtz (Stevens Point, Wis.) and Sprotte (Abbotsford, Wis.) brought home a first-place finish as well for the Falcons. The four completed the race in 12:58.51. The 12:58.51 time the four ran ranks second nationally in the event, behind just the team from Fredonia.

- Junior Colleen Sauvey (De Pere, Wis.) had two PRs, coming in her two running events of the day. Sauvey placed fifth in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.85 and added a third-place finish in the 200-meter dash, running a 28.95. She also placed third in the weight throw, landing a toss of 13.15 meters.

- Freshman Jennifer Miller (Freedom, Wis.) had a strong day for the Falcons with a pair of top-three finishes. Miller was second in the 200-meter dash, running a 28.56, while adding a third-place finish in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.74.

- The mile was a good event for the Falcons as well on Saturday, with three of the top-five finishers, two of those ranking in the top 50 nationally. Senior Marya Haegler (West Bend, Wis.) finished second in the event and ranks 21st nationally with a time of 5:15.35. Sophomore Paulina Agnello (Brookfield, Wis.) added a time of 5:20.38, which was good for fourth and also ranks her 46th nationally. Imperl added a fifth-place finish in the mile.

- Freshman Morgan Marnholtz (Merrill, Wis.) placed second in the 400-meter dash, finishing with a time of 1:04.95, just .61 seconds off of first place. Marnholtz added a third-place finish in the long jump, leaping 4.84 meters, while Tatiana March (Janesville, Wis.) placed sixth in the event with a mark of 4.63 meters. Marnholtz also finished third in the triple jump at 10.25 meters.

- Senior Larissa Schlitz (DeForest, Wis.) earned a fourth-place finish in the 3,000-meter run with a PR time of 11:39.33.

- Joining Larson with strong pole vault performances was Ariana Koehler and Kailey Koehler (Lake Geneva, Wis.). Each set a new PR in the event, Ariana finishing third by clearing 2.80 meters and Kailey placing seventh after clearing 2.50 meters.

UP NEXT
- The Falcons will take part in the UW-Stout Open next weekend. The meet is scheduled for a noon start on Saturday.
