Women's Track & Field impresses again at UW-Stout Open

MENOMONIE, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Women's Track & Field team had another strong round of performance while competing at the UW-Stout Open this weekend. While no team scores were kept, the Falcons had several top performances at the meet as they continue their early season success.

THE BASICS

- Event Champions: Jennifer Miller (60-meter dash – 8.26), Cassandra Sprotte (800-meter run – 2:24.92), Molly Wirtz (Mile – 5:30.24), Marya Haegler (3,000-meter run – 10:21.23), 4X200-meter relay (Sauvey, Gratz, Larson, Miller – 1:53.73), 4X400-meter relay (Arndt, Agnello, Wirtz, Sprotte – 4:20.87), Nicole Larson (Pole Vault – 3.70 meters), Morgan Marnholtz (Triple Jump – 10.29 meters)

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the 3,000-meter run, sophomore Nora Imperl (Greenfield, Wis.) posted a very impressive performance of 10:24.85, finishing just behind Haegler. Haegler and Imperl both find themselves ranked nationally in the event, Haegler at 25th and Imperl at 31st. Sophomore Ashley Scheele (Kohler, Wis.) finished third in the event as well for the Falcons.

- As you can see from the list above, the Falcons had several individual champions on Saturday. The distance events seemed to be where CUW was at its best, placing the top three finishers in both the mile and the 3,000. Following Wirtz (Stevens Point, Wis.) in the mile was juniors Larissa Schlitz (DeForest, Wis.) and Hannah Erl (Wauwatosa, Wis.).

- It was another meet and another victory in the pole vault for Larson (Milwaukee, Wis.). This time around she cleared 3.70 meters. In other field events, Marnholtz (Merrill, Wis.) won the triple jump with a mark of 10.29 meters, while also finishing second in the long jump at 4.81 meters.

- CUW had several strong performances in the 400-meter dash and 800-meter run on Saturday as well. The Falcons had three of the top five finishers (Sprotte, Paulina Agnello, Jessica Rice) in the 800, while having numbers two through seven in the 400-meter dash (Carolyn Arndt, Lauren Dorsey, Natalie Bubolz, Briana Gratz, Sarah Vogel and Emily Ward).

- Senior Karli Tatum (Milwaukee, Wis.) posted a pair of top-five finishes in the throwing events on Saturday, second in the shot put and fifth in the weight throw. Tatum landed a throw of 12.22 meters in the shot put, while posting a mark of 14.53 meters in the weight throw.

UP NEXT
- The Falcons are back in action on Friday, competing at the Tadd Matzger Invitational. The meet, which is hosted by Carthage College, is set for a 3:30 p.m. start.
