Larson lands All-American honors at Outdoor Championships

WAVERLY, Iowa – Junior Nicole Larson needed to match her best effort to reach All-American status Thursday at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Larson did just that, clearing 3.85 meters and tying for seventh place Thursday afternoon. The top eight in each event are declared All-Americans.

Larson (Milwaukee, Wis.) is an All-American for the second time, also achieving the feat during the indoor season. She tied her season-best mark by clearing 3.85 meters, doing so on her third and final attempt at the height.

Larson began the day at 3.50 meters and cleared that height in her first attempt. She cleared 3.65 meters on her second attempt and needed only try at both 3.75 and 3.80 meters. To claim the All-American accolades she needed to clear 3.85 meters and did so on her final try.

Katherine Pitman of Ithaca won the event, clearing 4.21 meters. Larson was the only Falcon competing at the Outdoor Championships.

It was an impressive first season with the Falcons for the Minnesota State Mankato transfer. The NACC and CUW record holder in the pole vault is now a two-time All-American and will have much to look forward to heading into her final year with the Falcons.
