A comeback for the ages!

MADISON, Wis. – Concordia Wisconsin found itself down 3-0 after doubles play against Edgewood and appeared to have dug itself a hole so big it was impossible to climb out. Never-say-never they say, as the Falcons rallied during singles play for a breathtaking 5-3 come-from-behind win to take the NACC Tournament Championship for the second-straight year.

Concordia Wisconsin 5, Edgewood 3 (NACC Tournament Championship)
- Concordia Wisconsin fought hard against Edgewood during doubles action but dropped each match by scores of 8-5, 8-5 and 8-6 to trail 3-0 entering singles play.
- What makes the Falcons victory so much sweeter, was the fact that the Eagles won the first set in four of the six singles matches. As a result, Concordia Wisconsin had to force a third set in three of them for the comeback win.
- Junior Elizabeth Carroll (Hartford, Wis.) put the first point on the board for the Falcons with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles, while sophomore Ashley Solberg (Waukesha, Wis.) followed with a 6-4, 6-1 decision at No. 1 singles. The momentum continued when freshman Emma Sievers (Slinger, Wis.) recorded a difficult 2-6, 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 5 singles to tie the match at 3-all.
- Senior Michaela Wagner (Oswego, Ill.) put the Falcons in front for good with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles prior to junior Hannah Tresedder (Kingsford, Mich.) sealing the victory with a 3-6, 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles to send the team into euphoria.

Concordia Wisconsin 5, Marian 1 (NACC Tournament semifinal)
- Concordia Wisconsin took care of business against Marian during a NACC Tournament semifinal match by winning all three doubles points for an early 3-0 lead.
- Solberg and Carroll cruised to an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles to help get things going for the Falcons.
- Tresedder and Sievers gained the two needed singles points with 6-2, 6-1 and 6-2, 6-0 wins, respectively, at No. 3 and No. 5 singles.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The NACC Tournament Championship is the second in a row for the Falcons.
- Concordia Wisconsin has never lost to Marian during the NACC era and has defeated Edgewood four times in a row after losing five consecutive matches.
- Sophomore Bailey Kelly (Racine, Wis.), Wagner, junior Sabine Jacobsen (Palatine, Ill.) and Carroll all rank fourth through tied for sixth in program history (2006-present) for career singles wins. Kelly has 42, Wagner won 40 and Wagner/Jacobsen are tied with 37 each.
- Wagner holds the program record for doubles victories with 64.
