Falcons thrive at Gustie Fall Invitational

ST. PETER, Minn. – It didn't matter what tournament Concordia Wisconsin was at this past weekend because they thrived at both. Members of the Women's Tennis team posted winning records in singles and doubles play at the Gustie Fall Invitational

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Overall, Freshman Emma Sievers recorded an impressive 3-1 record during singles play to lead the Falcons. She dropped her opening match by an 8-2 score to Bailey Budnik (UW-Eau Claire) before winning three-consecutive. The Slinger, Wis., native defeated Nicole Mayer (Gustavus Adolphus) with an 8-1 decision prior to downing Sophie Koppmann (St. Norbert) by an 8-4 score. She ended singles play with a 9-7 victory against Sophie Breen (St. Olaf).
- Freshman Rebekah Spiegelhoff (Mount Pleasant, Wis.) ended the singles portion of the tournament with a 2-2 record. She was victorious over Emily Ryski (Luther) by an 8-4 score and won 9-7 against Rachel Tappe (Grinnell).
- Junior Sabine Jacbosen (Palatine, Ill.) won a singles match by an 8-1 score versus Sidney Griffith (Simpson).
- During doubles play it was the paring of Jacobsen and senior Michaela Wagner (Oswego, Ill.) who captured three victories. The duo defeated Stephanie Doerfert and Sarah Bradow (St. Norbert) by an 8-3 score before downing Emily Knight and Nikki Eden (Northwester St. Paul) by an 8-5 decision. They also picked up an 8-3 win versus Emilyn Ryski and Kelsey Kruse (Luther).

BEYOND THE RESULTS
- In singles play the Falcons posted a 5-6 overall record. Sievers was the top singles player with a 3-1 record.
- The duo of Jacbosen and Wagner shined with a 3-1 record against doubles foes.

NEXT ON THE SCHEDULE
- The Falcons returns to action on Saturday, October 1 with a NACC doubleheader against Aurora (10 am) and Dominican (2 pm) at the CUW Tennis Courts.
