Women's Tennis enjoys success at USTA/ITA Midwest Regional

ST. PETER, Minn. – Concordia Wisconsin enjoyed its best ever results at the USTA/ITA Midwest Regional in program history on Friday through Sunday at Swanson Tennis Center. The Falcons had multiple student-athletes advance deep into the bracket featuring hundreds of tennis players.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Over the course of history the Falcons have struggled at the difficult tournament that featured 30 of the top teams in the region and hundreds of tennis student-athletes. However, this weekend the course of history was altered as they had success that will be remembered for some time.
- Junior Hannah Tresedder (Kingsford, Mich.) and sophomore Bailey Kelly (Racine, Wis. each recorded a 2-1 record in singles play, with Kelly and Tresedder advancing to the round of 32.
- Tresedder earned a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Gabriella Ferro (Cornell) and then defeated Bri Dorr (St. Catherine) by a 7-6 (7-2), 6-4 decision. Her tournament ended in the round of 32 by a 6-3, 6-2 score to Bridge Bellissimo (UW-La Crosse).
- Kelly posted a 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (10-2) victory against Kristin Kalinka (Carthage) prior to earning a 7-5, 2-6, 1-0 (10-2) win over Sydney Parkinson (Bethel). The righty's tournament ended with a 6-2, 6-2 loss to Cal Carlson (Gustavus Adolphus).
- Solberg began the tournament by defeating Torey Kogel (Nebraska Wesleyan) 6-3, 6-0 before dropping a 6-1, 6-3 decision to Max Mella (Carthage).
- The duo of Kelly and Tresedder accumulated a 2-1 record in doubles play. They downed Samantha Fleming and Lauren Weise (UW-Lacrosse) by a 9-8 (7-5) score in the round of 64 to advance and defeat Shannyn Waltz and Caroline Greenberg (Carleton) by default. Their run came to an end with an 8-6 loss to Jessica Solberg and Madeleine Scanlan (St. Scholastica) by an 8-6 score.
- The pairing of Solberg and junior Elizabeth Carroll (Hartford, Wis.) earned an 8-4 doubles win against Sydney Verbauwhede and Marissa Wilson (Edgewood).

BEYOND THE RESULTS
- In singles play the Falcons posted a 5-5 overall record. Tresedder and Kelly each had 2-1 records.
- The duo of Kelly and Tresedder tallied a 2-1 record in doubles play.

NEXT ON THE SCHEDULE
- The Falcons returns to action on Saturday, October 1 with a NACC doubleheader against Aurora (10 am) and Dominican (2 pm) at the CUW Tennis Courts.
