Falcons Split Strong Saturday Slate

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's tennis team tangoed with Luther and North Park on Saturday. The opposing duo came in with a combined 25-8 record.

The Falcons opened the day against the Norse of Luther. The Falcons held an early lead after doubles with senior Ricki Budewitz (Watertown, Wis.) and senior Ashley Samuta (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) winning at No. 1 doubles, 8-6. Freshman Sofia Buhr (Blumenau, Brazil) and senior Mallory Moen (Neenah, Wis.) also picked up an 8-5 victory at No. 2 doubles.

The lone singles point came from Ricki Budewitz at No. 1 singles. She defeated Sofia Sackett, 6-4, 4-6, 10-4.

The Falcons only won one doubles point against North Park. Budewitz and Samuta struck again with an 8-1 win.

Junior Peyton Morgan (Arlington Heights, Ill.) mowed down Ella Darrow at No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-1.

Ricki Budewitz bounced Hanna Zethraeus at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-2.

At No. 5 singles, senior Mia Andrae (Cedarburg, Wis.) shot down Maddie Starr, 6-2, 7-5.

Ashley Samuta secured the victory with a 6-0, 3-6, 10-5 win at No. 3 singles.

The Falcons have a 17-6 record as they head into the final regular-season match on Saturday against Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
