Men's Soccer scores convincing win over Rockford

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Men's Soccer team scored early and often in a convincing 11-0 NACC win over Rockford Wednesday at Fitting Field. The Falcons win sets up a Saturday showdown with Dominican between the league's current top two teams.

THE BASICS

- Final Score: Concordia Wisconsin 11, Rockford 0
- Location: Fitting Field – Mequon, Wis.
- Records: Concordia Wisconsin 11-2-1, 5-1-0 NACC; Rockford 2-12-0, 0-7-0 NACC

HOW IT HAPPENED

- CUW scored six times in the first half, the first five of those involving senior Diego Campos (Milwaukee, Wis.). Campos had four assists in the contest, which tied the CUW single-match record (Mike Bruckner – 2007). He also scored the fourth goal of the contest for CUW.

- Senior Keegan Van Dusseldorp (Burlington, Wis.) scored the first goal of the match in the 15th minute on a great cross from sophomore Luis Loya (Bolingbrook, Ill.), which was also touched by Campos on the way to Van Dusseldorp's ninth goal of the year. He added a second-half score for his third straight season of double-digit goals.

- Junior Jordan Moehn (Fond du Lac, Wis.) scored the first of his three goals in the 18th minute, while senior Bobby Russ (Wauwatosa, Wis.) picked up his first goal of the season in the 41st minute. Campos assisted on both of those, as well as a score from freshman Ryan Kreuser (Suamico, Wis.) in the 41st minute.

- Freshman Dagoberto Diaz (Woodburn, Ore.) continued his impressive rookie season with his sixth goal of the season late in the first half. Freshman Trevor Nargis (Milwaukee, Wis.) assisted on the score for his first career collegiate point.

- The second half saw five more Falcons goals, the first two from Moehn to complete the hat trick. Van Dusseldorp assisted on both of those scores, while adding his second goal of the contest later in the half, which was assisted from Diaz.

- The final two goals for the Falcons came from sophomore Josiah Ochoa (Mundelein, Ill.) and junior Sean Cropper (Green Bay, Wis.). Sophomore Michael Benash (New Berlin, Wis.) and senior Jake Barnes (Fort Atkinson, Wis.) assisted on the Cropper score.

- Senior Alec Brew (Appleton, Wis.) ran his scoreless streak to 308 minutes after not allowing a goal in the first half. He was relieved by junior Kevin May (Mississauga, Ontario) at halftime. Each player made one save as the Falcons dominated shots, 58-3.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

- The 11 goals was the most since the 2006 season when the Falcons also had 11 against Rockford.

- Van Dusseldorp now has 36 goals in his career, which ranks seventh all-time in program history. Ryan Unger is the leader with 80 goals from 1995-1999.

- Campos has made a career setting up players as he now has 28 assists in three-plus seasons. After the four on Wednesday, he has seven this season, two away from his single-season best, nine in 2012.
