Men's Soccer scores late goal to top Aurora

MEQUON, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin Men's Soccer topped Aurora University, 2-1, at home on Saturday afternoon in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference matchup.

THE BASICS
Final Score: Concordia Wisconisn 2, Aurora 1
Location: Fitting Field – Mequon, Wis.
Records: Concordia Wisconsin 8-2-1, Aurora 4-6-1

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Aurora jumped out to an early lead just over six minutes into the match on a goal scored by Ben Edith. Edith's goal was assisted by Angel Barajas.
- The Falcons would even the score just three minutes later off a nice cross into the box by senior forward Keegan Van Dusseldorp (Burlington, Wis.) that was put into the back of the net by sophomore forward Luis Loya (Bolingbrook, Ill.) to tie the match 1-1.
- Coming out of the halftime intermission with the scored tied at one; CUW turned up the intensity but still could not manage to break the tie. That is until Van Dusseldorp brought it down the far side of the field and placed another nice cross into the middle of the box where freshman midfielder Dagoberto Diaz (Woodburn, Ore.) would put the ball in the back of the net, which would end up being the match winner.
- Senior Alec Brew (Appleton, Wis.) faced five shots, making four saves in the win as the Falcons controlled possession throughout. Brew earned his sixth win of the season. CUW finished with a 33-11 advantage in shots.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Falcons had not beaten Aurora since the 2011 season where the Falcons defeated the Spartans 1-0 at Fitting Field.
- The 33 shots by CUW are the most they've had this season.
- The win for Brew now marks a new total in wins for a single season in his collegiate career.

THE OPPOSITION
- Edith who had the lone goal for Aurora also led the team in shots with five.  Goalkeeper, Zach McFarland had a game high nine saves.

- The Falcons will travel to Benedictine on Wednesday, Oct. 7 for a 7:00 pm NACC matchup.
