Men's Soccer Ties with Marian

MEQUON, Wis. – The 22-match winning streak against Marian came to an end on Wednesday. The Sabres picked up a point against the Falcons for the first time since 2002 with a 2-2 tie on Wednesday. The tie sends the Falcons to 4-7-2 on the year and 2-5-2 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference.

The Sabres had opportunities in the first few minutes with a pair of shots that curdled wide.

Marian struck first with a blast to the far-right side of the net in the 11th minute.

In the 38th minute, senior Ivan Cuellar (Milwaukee, Wis.) had a slow roller level the match off a pass from senior Angel Uriostegui (Grayslake, Ill.).

The Falcons took the lead in the 70th minute when senior Miguel Garcia (Batavia, Ill.) lofted a ball from outside of the 18-yard box and found the far corner to take the lead off a pass from freshman Garrett Solcz (Green Bay, Wis.).

The Sabres tied the game in the 84th minute.

The Falcons threatened late to try to find the third goal, including an empty net situation in the final minute, but the Marian keeper batted away the attempt to secure the tie.

Sophomore Jeremy Munoz (Milwaukee, Wis.) came up with many clutch saves for the Falcons and finished the evening with two saves.

The Sabres held a 13-10 advantage in shots on Wednesday.

Freshman Joey Moua (Eau Claire, Wis.) led CUW with three shots.

The Falcons return to play on Saturday at Concordia Chicago.
