Spartans sink Men’s Hockey

GENEVA, Ill. – The CUW men's hockey team took one on the chin on Friday night with a 7-2 loss at Aurora. The loss sends CUW to 5-10-0 on the year.

The Spartans opened the game on a 6-0 run.

Freshman Sean Hofstetter put the Falcons on the scoreboard with assists to senior Cole Pickup (Victoria, B.C.) and Thomas Dyball (Papillion, Neb.).

CUW closed the scoring with a last-second goal from freshman Jordan Guiney (Victoria, B.C.) off an assist to freshman Michael Makarenko (Calgary, Alta.).

Junior Bo Didur (West Vancouver, B.C.) had 20 saves in the start and freshman Liam McGarva (Fort Saskatchewan, Alta.) posted 10 saves in relief.

The Spartans held a 30-29 shots advantage on Friday.

The two teams will compete again on Saturday in Wisconsin.
