Falcons open NCHA play with an overtime win

MEQUON, Wis. – The Falcons won in front of an electric environment on Friday night with a 4-3 overtime victory to open the NCHA season.

The Saints were the first team on the scoreboard with a goal 76 second into the game.

Sophomore Alex Way (Ottawa, Ont.) snipped in a shot from senior Luke Ranallo to even the game.

Senior Nick Guerra scored on the power play to give the Falcons the lead after 20 minutes off passes from junior Corey Dennis (Madison, Wis.) and senior Cole Pickup (Victoria, B.C.).

Junior Thomas Dyball (Papillion, Neb.) added to the lead with a short-handed goal, with assists to Nick Guerra and senior Nick Guiney (Victoria, B.C.)

St. Scholastica scored twice in the third period to send the game to overtime.

Nick Guerra ended the game during three-on-three hockey with a shot off passes from senior Braydon Barker (Red Deer, Alta.) and Cole Pickup.

Junior Bo Didur (West Vancouver, B.C.) stood tall in the net and finished with 33 saves.

CUW held a 46-36 shots advantage, with Nick Guerra and sophomore Lucas Hefty (Oregon, Wis.) adding six.

The Blue and White will go for the sweep on Saturday.
