Sabres sneak past Men’s Hockey

FOND DU LAC, Wis. – The CUW men's hockey team dropped to 1-7-0 on the year with a 4-3 loss at Marian on Friday night.

The Sabres struck first with a goal six minutes into the game.

Senior Cole Pickup (Victoria, B.C.) scored on the power play to tie the game off assists from senior Braydon Barker (Red Deer, Alta.) and senior Nick Guerra (Victoria, B.C.).

Marian retook the lead in the second period.

The Falcons once again leveled the game with a goal from senior Nick Guiney (Victoria, B.C.) from junior Thomas Dyball (Papillion, Neb.).

Marian scored the next to goals to regain the lead.

Sophomore Brandon Picard (Montreal, Que.) finished the scoring in the third period off passes from Braydon Barker and sophomore Alex Way (Ottawa, Ont.).

Junior Erik Schuette (Olathe, Kan.) secured 33 saves on the night.

Marian held a 37-24 shots advantage.

The Falcons will look to level the series on Saturday evening at home.
