Falcons Run Past Rockford in NACC Opener

ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's volleyball team opened up Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play on Tuesday night at Rockford. The Falcons rolled the Regents to a 25-9, 25-11, 25-16 victory to improve to 3-5 on the year and 1-0 in the NACC.

The first set was all Falcons. A 6-0 run behind the serve of sophomore Abby Proefrock (Grafton, Wis.) gave CUW some separation and the birds never looked back. CUW held the Regents to a -.185 hitting percentage in the set. The Falcons had five blocks and five service aces in the set. Sophomore Paige Stickney (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) led the flock with three blocks and Abby Proefrock landed two service aces.

The Falcons won the first five points in the second set and 15 of the first 17. A block from senior Maycee Karpfinger (Wauwatosa, Wis.) ended the set at 25-11. Karpfinger rocked the Regents in the second set with six kills, four digs, a block and a service ace.

The Regents continued to fight and claimed their first lead of the night in the third set and used a 3-0 run to claim a 14-11 lead. The Falcons quickly flipped the script and used a 14-2 run to close the evening. A kill from sophomore Stella Zarling (West Bend, Wis.) ended the night at 25-16.

Maycee Karpfinger finished with a match-high 10 kills and 11 digs.

Abby Proefrock was once again lethal in the back row with six service aces and nine digs.

Paige Stickney secured a career-best five blocks in the victory.

Sophomore Mickenzi Benter (De Pere, Wis.) brought in 26 assists on Tuesday night.

The Falcons return to action on Saturday at Wisconsin-Eau Claire. The Blue and White open the day against Concordia Moorhead.
