Women’s Volleyball Closes IWU Invitational

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's volleyball team closed the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational on Saturday against the hist Titans and Mount St. Joseph.

The Falcons opened the day with a thrilling 25-23, 16-25, 25-23, 14-25, 15-10 victory over Illinois Wesleyan.

The Blue and White were led by the two-headed beast of senior Maycee Karpfinger (Wauwatosa, Wis.) and junior Lauren Shroba (Bolingbrook, Ill.) with 14 kills each. Karpfinger also added 16 digs and five service aces.

Sophomore Abby Proefrock (Grafton, Wis.) led the team with 19 digs and sophomore Izzy Sternig (West Bend, Wis.) finished with 29 assists.

The birds closed the tournament against Mount St. Joseph, who is receiving votes in this week's AVCA rankings. The Lions remained unbeaten on the year with a 25-19, 20-25, 25-14, 27-25 victory.

Maycee Karpfinger led the Falcons with 15 kills and 16 digs in the second match. Sophomore Mickenzi Benter (De Pere, Wis.) added 22 assists to the attack.

Maycee Karpfinger was voted to the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational All-Tournament Team.

CUW returns to action on Tuesday in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference opener at Rockford.
