Volleyball drops four-set match to Wisconsin Lutheran

Box Score: WLC 3, CUW 1

MILWAUKEE, Wis. - Concordia University Wisconsin's offense struggled on Saturday as it wasn't able to find a rhythm dropping a 3-1 (25-20, 28-30, 25-21, 25-12) volleyball match to Wisconsin Lutheran College at the Recreation Complex.

After fighting through a five-set match the previous day, the Falcons dropped the opening set before earning a second-set extra-point victory to even the match at a frame apiece. However, CUW's offense stalled in the third and fourth sets - hitting below .100 - which allowed WLC (10-9, 3-2 NAC) to win the Northern Athletics Conference match.

Senior Amanda Wilke (Oak Creek, Wis.) led the Falcons (2-16, 1-5 NAC) with 13 kills and 15 digs - the teams only double-double. Sophomore Ashley Faber (Kewaskum, Wis.) assisted on 20 kills and freshman Gabrielle VanBeaver (Green Bay, Wis.) and junior Amanda Stahmann (Van Dyne, Wis.) each recorded three blocks.
Rachel Johnson smashed a match-high 19 kills and blocked five attack attempts for the Warriors. Mariah Bukiewicz recorded a match-best 33 assists, to go along with 13 digs. Erin Greenfield finished with 12 kills and 11 digs. CUW returns to the hardwood on Friday, Oct. 7 for a 7 p.m. NAC match with Alverno College at the R. John Buuck Field House.
