Volleyball swept by Concordia University-Texas in CIT opener

RIVER FOREST, Ill. - Senior Amanda Wilke blasted a team-high eight kills, but it wasn't enough as Concordia University Texas defeated the Concordia University Wisconsin volleyball team 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 27-25) Friday night in the opening round of the Concordia Invitational Tournament.

Wilke (Oak Creek, Wis.), along with senior Amy Gray (Urbana, Ill.) finished with a team-best eight digs. Gray also had 13 assists for the Falcons (0-1). Senior Brittany Deinlein (New Berlin, Wis.) served a game-high-tying three aces.

Alison Pringle and Shelbi Chipman each had 10 kills to lead the Tornados (2-0). Bianca Martinez paced all players with 18 assists, while Kevyn Jackson recorded 13 digs.

CUW fought back in the third set to stay alive, pushing the match into extra points, but 12 attacking errors and .134 attack percentage proved to be the Falcon downfall.
