
Three Falcons Finish First at Muskie Scramble
PLYMOUTH, Wis. – The CUW Wrestling team had a strong showing at the Muskie Scramble on Saturday, as three Falcons wrestlers took first place, while the team's field of 12 combined for 107.5 team points.
At 125B, junior Devin Gore (Plymouth, Wis.) took first place, winning his first matches after a first-round bye with two first period falls before earning a 15-3 major decision in the first-place match. Gore was one of two Falcons to go undefeated on the afternoon, tallying 21 team points in the effort.
At 133B, freshman Christopher Khaosanga (Jackson, Wis.) competed for the Falcons, taking fifth place after being defeated by a series of falls.
Junior Corey Bagby (Salem, N.J.) and freshman Ethan Onan (Beach Park, Ill.) stood as Concordia's representatives in the 141A and 149A brackets, respectively, collecting three team points apiece.
Freshman Mason Markham (Elkhorn, Wis.) took a pair of losses by fall to begin the 149B bracket, but earned a 12-11 decision in the fifth-place match to accumulate seven points for the Falcons. Sophomore Frank Budederi (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) also competed at 149B, placing seventh to collect four more points for Concordia.
Senior Carson Cook (Las Vegas, Nev.) had a strong showing at 157A for the Falcons, picking up two fall victories before taking a loss in the first-place match. His second-place finish and respective efforts netted sixteen points for the Falcons, making him the team's fourth-highest scorer.
Freshman Brandon Monteiro (Fernley, Nev.) competed at 165B for Concordia, placing fifth in an extremely competitive bracket.
At 174A, sophomore T.J. Mackey (Joliet, Ill.) tallied six points for the Falcons, finishing in sixth place.
Freshman Nathan Krause (Grafton, Wis.) took first-place for the Falcons in the 197A bracket, winning with three falls in just under five minutes of total competition.
Senior Peyton Smith (Milwaukee, Wis.) also secured a first-place finish for the Falcons at 197B, by way of a 10-1 major decision and 17-2 technical fall in his opening two matches before collecting falls in his final two.
Senior Cam Mercer (Glenview, Ill.) went 3-1 on the afternoon for the Falcons at 285B, finishing in fifth place to tally 11 team points.
Concordia will be back on the mat on Saturday, November 18 at the 30th annual CUW Open.
