Wrestling Wrecks the Raiders

MEQUON, Wis. – The Falcons concluded the dual match portion of the schedule on Tuesday night. The Falcons hosted the Raiders of MSOE in a rescheduled contest due to the MSOE bus catching on fire in January. The Falcons improve to 7-3 on the year and 6-3 in the Collegiate Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin with the 34-13 victory.

The Falcons took an early 12-point lead with forfeit victories at 125 pounds for sophomore Devin Gore (Plymouth, Wis.) and at 133 pounds for junior Emilio Acosta (El Paso, Texas).

At 149 pounds, senior Val Kochiu (Oak Creek, Wis.) picked up a 9-0 major decision over Max Sanderfoot.

The Raiders cut into the Concordia lead with victories at 157 and 165 pounds.

Senior Bryce Claypool (Morris, Ill.) edged Harry Nemcek with a 1-0 decision.

At the 184-pound weight class, freshman Ruben Vaquez (Westminster, Calif.) was able to build an early lead over Caleb Brick and earned the 5-3 decision.

The two teams had another battle at 197 pounds. Junior Peyton Smith recorded a fall over Jake Schmitt at 6:11.
