Wrestling Battled at the CCIW Duals

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The CUW wrestling team competed at the CCIW duals on Saturday at North Central College. The Falcons posted a 0-4 record with three losses were to teams ranked in the top-20 in the NWCA rankings.

The Falcons started the day with a 41-4 loss to No. 20 Millikin. Junior Jack O'Donnell (Huntington Beach, Calif.) had the lone CUW victory at 157 pounds with a 14-5 major decision over Peter McCusker.

The second-ranked Cardinals of North Central then took down the Falcons, 51-0.

The Blue and White then fell to Augustana 30-19. 

Senior Austin Vincent (Stockton, Ill.) won by fall at 141 pounds over Sam Deyro at 5:42.

Jack O'Donnell earned his second victory of the day with a technical fall over Chase Clark at 15-0.

Junior Quinn Hoopman (Cedar Grove, Wis.) picked up a 4-0 decision over Vinny Querciagrossa at 165 pounds.

At 197 pounds, junior Dalton Sell (Muscatine, Iowa) secured a 20-2 technical fall against Clay DeBailie at 20-2.

The Falcons fell short in the finale of the day against No. 17 Elmhurst, 24-28.

Jack O'Donnell struck again against the Bluejays with a fall over Jaden Morga at 0:41.

Quinn Hoopman notched a 4-3 decision over Jeff Nugent.

Junior Alexandros Alexiades (Oswego, Ill.) earned a 7-6 decision against Joe Caringella.

Sophomore Payton Smith (Milwaukee, Wis.) picked up a fall at 1:25 against Scott Anderson.

The Falcons return to action on Friday at the Wheaton Pete Willson Invitational.
