Mergener ends season at NCAA Division III Championship

HERSHE, Pa. – Mason Mergener will look back at the 2014-15 season years from now and remember his trip to the NCAA Division III Championships. The 174-pounder did get the results he wanted on the national stage, losing a pair of matches to end his season.

The sophomore from Crivitz, Wis., opening the Championship with a 6-2 decision loss to Ryan Harrington (Coe College), who is ranked 10th in the nation. Mergener then was pinned in 2:09 by Ryan Sblendorio (Wesleyan University Connecticut).

Mergener ends the 2014-15 campaign with a 21-12 overall record, which includes four victories by pin. He was tied for third on the team in wins.
