Falcon wear down Inferno in road victory

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Concordia Wisconsin's depth played an impact on Saturday evening during a commanding 72-43 victory at Alverno during NACC play. The Falcons received 41 points from their reserves and 13 players found the scoring column.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Concordia Wisconsin set the tone early with a 17-9 opening quarter to sway all the momentum in its favor. After adjustments at halftime, the Falcons outscored Alverno 20-6 in the third period to blow the game wide open.
- The Falcons didn't force the Inferno into an exorbitant amount of turnovers (20), but harassed them into 21.4 percent from the field. As well, the visitors ended with a decisive 48-36 advantage in rebounding and stole 13 passes.
- Concordia Wisconsin's lead reached double-figures seconds into the second quarter, entered the 20-point zone with less than four minutes to play in the third period and topped out at 34 twice in the final minutes.
- Senior Taylor DeLong (Milwaukee, Wis.) led all players with 17 points, to go along with seven rebounds and three assists. Junior Audrey Scharmer (Winona, Minn.) and freshman Kelsey Birschbach (Fond du Lac, Wis.) each had nine points.
- Senior Samantha Blissett (Springfield, Ill.) posted eight points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals. Sophomore Marciarae' Harmon (Milwaukee, Wis.) tallied four points, five rebounds and four assists.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- With a Wisconsin Lutheran loss earlier in the day, the Falcons moved into a tie for first place in the NACC standings.
- Junior Elizabeth Hafemann (Hales Corners, Wis.) grabbed a career-best four rebounds and freshman Arianna Liddicoat (Watertown, Wis.) pulled down a season-high four rebounds.

THE OPPOSITION
- Gabby Hood paced the Inferno with 14 points, while Mollie Mikyska had seven points and 10 rebounds off the bench.
- The win was the sixth straight over Alverno.

NEXT ON THE SCHEDULE
- The Falcons travel to Wisconsin Lutheran for a matchup of the top two teams in the NACC on Tuesday at 7 pm. Both programs have identical 14-2 league records, with Concordia Wisconsin currently holding the tiebreaker.
