Men's Soccer Vanquishes the Vikings

APPLETON, Wis. – It was all smiles for the Concordia Wisconsin men's soccer team on Friday night in the season opener at Lawrence. The Falcons opened the young season with a 6-0 victory.

Senior Matthew Alcala (Gurnee, Ill.) opened the scoring in the eighth minute off a feed from freshman Vladimir Campos (Milwaukee, Wis.).

Freshman Joey Moua (Eau Claire, Wis.) scored his first goal as a Falcon in the 35th minute off an assist from senior Manuel Brito (Chicago, Ill.) to give CUW a 2-0 lead at halftime.

Junior Alishan Sharipov (Krasnodar, Russia) made a splash in his Concordia debut with two goals in the first 20 minutes of the second half. Vladimir Campos added an assist on the second goal.

In the 76th minute, freshman Garrett Solcz (Green Bay, Wis.) scored his first goal as a Falcon off an assist from sophomore Pablo Gonzalez (Sheboygan, Wis.).

Freshman Ben Yang (Anoka, Minn.) scored from distance in the 89th minute to close the scoring.

Sophomore Jeremy Munoz (Milwaukee, Wis.) claimed the clean sheet with one save in the victory.

The six goals are the most since the 2020-21 spring season in a 7-0 victory over Edgewood.

The Falcons look to continue their winning ways on Sunday at Carthage.
