GAVIN FALOTICO POSTMATCH

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Tyrpak (Hartford, Wis.) gained the first goal of 2018 for the Falcons in the 15th minute. Simon Da-Silva (Lagos, Nigeria) sent the ball into the box, which was deflected by a defender but picked up by Tyrpak who beat the keeper for a 1-0 lead. Da-Silva's assist was his first collegiate point.

- Ryan Kreuser (Suamico, Wis.) is a player who spent his first three years trying to score goals for the Falcons. On Friday, in his first career start at goalkeeper, Kreuser's focus was stopping goals and he succeeded in his first collegiate win. The senior made one save, but also stopped a couple key crosses late in the match for the Falcons.

- CUW finished the match with a 19-3 edge in shots, including a 7-1 advantage in shots on goal. The Falcons also had seven corner kicks compared to just a pair for the Buccaneers.

- Tyrpak led the way with six shots, while Zach Gyuricza (Palatine, Ill.) chipped in with two.

- The Falcons back line played an outstanding game, anchored by senior Gavin Falotico (Palatine, Ill.). Joining Falotico as starting defenders was Jovan Jardine (Winter Park, Fla.), Owen Hanisko (Hartford, Wis.), and Sam Runyan (Muskego, Wis.).

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- CUW has won its last four home openers, all four via shutouts. The Falcons defeated Concordia Ann Arbor, 2-0, last season and posted a 3-0 victory over Lawrence in 2016. The streak started with a 3-0 win over Carroll in 2015.

UP NEXT
- CUW visits St. Norbert for a non-conference match Wednesday evening. The Falcons and Green Knights are set for a 6:30 p.m. start.
