Men’s Soccer upsets MSOE in shutout victory

MEQUON, Wis. – The Falcons held strong defensively and got all they needed offensively to take down the conference leaders as Men's Soccer shut out MSOE 1-0 on Wednesday to hand the Raiders their first conference loss of the season.

THE BASICS
-Final Score: Concordia Wisconsin 1, MSOE 0
-Location: Fitting Field – Mequon, Wis.
-Records: Concordia Wisconsin 8-6-1 (5-3-1 NACC), MSOE 12-3 (8-1 NACC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Falcons broke a highly contested stalemate in the 24th minute of the first period. From the left side of the field beyond the penalty area, Owen Hanisko (Hartford, Wis.) launched a pass over the mass of players to find Will King just in front of the goal on the right side. King (Maidenhead, United Kingdom) collected the pass and launched it past the outstretched arm of the Raiders' goalie to give the Falcons a lead they would not relinquish.
-Nate Yeager (Rio Rancho, N.M.) was steadfast in goal for the Falcons, saving four shots on the day while shutting out a Raiders team that had scored 39 goals this season.
-CUW held the Raiders, who entered the game averaging over 16 shots a game, to only eight shots on the day.

 BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
-King's goal was not only the first of the freshman's collegiate career, but also his first scored across the sea from his home country of England.
-The Falcons' win snapped the Raiders' school-record 12-game winning streak.
-Men's Soccer is now 17-8-3 all-time against MSOE in program history.
