CUW Stumbles Against Alfred

ALFRED, N.Y. - The Concordia Wisconsin men's lacrosse team suffered its first loss of the 2024 season on Wednesday afternoon, falling to the Alfred Saxons. The 23-11 loss marked the first meeting between the programs, and senior Parker Beaudry (Sherwood Park, Alta.) recorded five goals in the outing.

The Saxons outscored the Falcons 7-3 in the opening quarter of play, with Beaudry and junior Max Esposito (Gaithersburg, Md.) representing the Falcons on the scoresheet. Esposito assisted on Beaudry's opening pair of goals before scoring an unassisted goal to trim Concordia's deficit down to two scores.

Alfred expanded on its lead before the half, potting nine goals in the second quarter.

Esposito, Beaudry, and senior Caleb Ruger (Grafton, Wis.) scored for the Falcons in the third, as Concordia outscored the Saxons 3-1.

Beaudry tallied two additional goals in the final frame of play to secure his fourth game of the season with five or more goals. Esposito, Ruger, and junior Gio Nowotarski (Reading, Pa.) also found goals in the quarter for Concordia, which marked the game's final score at 23-11.

Freshman Travis Marquardt (Brookfield, Wis.) and junior Justin Kopp (Rochester, Minn.) each recorded five saves for the Falcons in the contest.

Concordia will look to get back to winning ways on March 8th when it plays the 1-0 Keuka Wolves.
