Men's Lacrosse Downed by Spartans

MONTGOMERY, Ill. – The Concordia Wisconsin men's lacrosse team fell to the Aurora Spartans on Saturday afternoon by a 15-8 margin. The contest brought the Falcons' record to 6-4 in the 2024 season while pushing the team's conference record to 1-1.

Concordia struck first on the scoreboard, as junior Max Esposito (Gaithersburg, Md.) found the back of the net in the game's opening minute.

Stretching into the second quarter, Aurora kicked off a dominant scoring run with its first goal, notching the next six scores of the game to take a commanding hold on the contest. Senior Caleb Ruger (Grafton, Wis.) and junior Gio Nowotarski (Reading, Pa.) potted consecutive goals for Concordia to cut into the deficit late in the second quarter, but Aurora snagged three straight to rebuild its lead. Senior Parker Beaudry (Sherwood Park, Alta.) beat the buzzer for the Falcons to end the half, scoring the team's fourth goal of the game with three seconds remaining on the clock.

Beaudry opened the second half by scoring an additional two goals for the Falcons, which cut the deficit down to just three scores. Beaudry's three total goals in the game granted his 2024 campaign third place in program single-season scoring with 47.

Aurora countered the effort with two quick goals to restore its five-score advantage, but Esposito found the back of the net twice before the end of the quarter to trim it once again. Ruger notched assists on both goals to hold a team-best four total in the contest.

Ultimately, Aurora padded its lead in the final quarter of play, scoring the lone four goals of the frame to take the game by a 15-8 score.

Freshman goaltender Travis Marquardt (Brookfield, Wis.) recorded 14 saves for the Falcons in the outing.

The Falcons will look to get back to their winning ways on April 10 against the 5-7 Edgewood Eagles.
