Men's Lacrosse Improves on Historic Start

MEQUON, Wis. - After opening the 2024 season with the first 3-0 record in program history, the Concordia Wisconsin men's lacrosse team notched its fourth consecutive win on Saturday afternoon, topping the Northwestern-St. Paul Eagles 20-7. Junior Max Esposito (Gaithersburg, Md.) tallied six goals for the Falcons for the third time in four games to open the season.

Senior Caleb Ruger (Grafton, Wis.) and junior Gio Nowatarski (Reading, Pa.) found goals for the Falcons in the opening quarter of play, and the team would take a 2-1 lead into the second frame.

Concordia notched the first four goals of the second quarter, as Esposito tallied three while junior Michael Lange (Brookfield, Wis.) also joined in on the scoring action. The Eagles would cut into the deficit before the half, trimming the lead down to two goals after Khoa Vu picked up two goals and an assist to lead the team's offensive effort.

Esposito and Nowatarski represented Concordia's scoring duo in the third, but Northwestern-St. Paul also picked up a pair of goals to maintain the two-goal advantage for the Falcons.

The Falcons dominated the fourth quarter, outscoring the Eagles 12-1. Ruger and fellow senior Parker Beaudry (Sherwood Park, Alta.) accounted for three goals each, while Esposito also found the back of the net twice. Junior Cooper Fellows (De Pere, Wis.) extended his goal streak to three consecutive games, and freshman Jaxon Hill (Bismarck, N.D.) and senior Matthew Sierzga (Grayslake, Ill.) took responsibility for additional goals.

Freshman goaltender Travis Marquardt (Brookfield, Wis.) registered 13 saves for Concordia in the contest.

The Falcons will seek their first 5-0 start in their next outing against the 2-0 Alfred Saxons on March 6.
