Men's Lacrosse Returns to Winning Ways

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. - The Concordia Wisconsin men's lacrosse team found its way back into the win column on Friday afternoon, topping the previously unbeaten Keuka Wolves 17-8 for the team's fifth win of the season. After kicking off the 2024 campaign with the first 4-0 start in team history, the Falcons' 5-1 record represents just the program's second such start and the first in 13 years.

The Falcons took command of the opening quarter of play, potting seven goals in comparison to just one by the Wolves. Senior Parker Beaudry (Sherwood Park, Alta.) continued his dominant play for Concordia, scoring three of his six goals in the frame, while junior Max Esposito (Gaithersburg, Md.) totaled four points in the quarter. Junior Gio Nowotarski (Reading, Pa.) and sophomore Connor Quill (Schaumburg, Ill.) took responsibility for the other two goals, with the latter finding his second goal of the season.

Concordia built up its lead to 11-1 just prior to the half due to goals from Beaudry, Esposito, and freshman Jaxon Hill (Bismarck, N.D.) in the second quarter.

The Falcons likewise outscored the Wolves in the third quarter, which saw senior Caleb Ruger (Grafton, Wis.) enter his name onto the scoresheet with a goal and an assist.

Senior Matthew Sierzega (Grayslake, Ill.) joined the scoring parade in the fourth quarter, taking responsibility for the team's final goal with 1:10 remaining in play. After Devon Gerhardt found his third goal of the game for Keuka in the final minute, the scoreboard held its final reading at 17-8.

Freshman goaltender Travis Marquardt (Brookfield, Wis.) recorded his fifth straight win to open his Concordia career, stopping 21 shots in the contest.

The Falcons will look to improve to 6-1 in their next outing against the 3-1 Elmhurst Bluejays on March 16.
