
Men's Lacrosse Announces 2024 Captains
MEQUON, Wis. - CUW men's lacrosse head coach Michael Fahey has announced the captains for the upcoming men's lacrosse season. The four captains for the 2024 season are Max Esposito, Matthew Sierzega, Gio Nowotarski, and Zach Wilder.
A junior attacker from Gaithersburg, Maryland, Max Esposito, has started and played in all 34 games. Esposito has totaled an impressive 78 goals and 70 assists in his career. In 2023, as a sophomore, he broke the record for points in a season and earned NACC Offensive Player of the Year, All-NACC First Team Honors, and IMLCA All-Regional Team Honorable Mention recognition.
A senior midfielder from Grayslake, Illinois, Matthew Sierzega, brings a wealth of experience with 34 games played. Sierzega has totaled 15 goals for his career, 10 of which came in the 2023 season, 23 groundballs, and seven caused turnovers. This will be Siezega's second season as a captain for the Falcons and his fifth year with the program.
A junior midfielder from Reading, Pennsylvania, Gio Nowotarski, enters the season with 34 games and 12 starts in his career. Nowotarski has amassed 77 points in his career with 67 goals and 10 assists. He has also caused 18 turnovers and has recorded 42 groundballs in his career. In the 2023 season, Nowotarski earned All-NACC First Team honors for his exceptional play.
A junior defesenman from Midland, Michigan, Zach Wilder, played in all 17 games last season. In his first two years at CUW, Wilder has tallied 38 groundballs and caused 19 turnovers in his career. Eager to make strides in his junior campaign, Wilder will play an important role on the Falcon's defense.
The Falcons are scheduled to open the season at home against the Lumberjacks of Northland College on Feb. 17th and open conference play on March 30th at MSOE.
