Men's Golf completes NACC Championship

AURORA, Ill. – Concordia University Wisconsin completed the four-round Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference on Tuesday and finished in eighth place, while Mike Loftus led the Falcons with a 23rd place finish.

The Falcons improved 11 strokes from the third to fourth round at the par-72, 6,815 yard Stronebridge Country Club. The first and second rounds of the NACC Championship were held on October 13-14 at Whistling Straits Irish Course.

Loftus (sophomore, Germantown, Wis.) finished in a tie for 23rd after shooting a 46-over-par total (84-81-89-80). Freshman Evan Rabas (Sherwood, Wis.) took 27th after carding a 50-over-par 338 total (87-92-81-78). He was the only Falcon to shoot a sub-80 round and improved 14 strokes from the second to fourth round.

Edgewood College won the team trophy and the league's automatic bid the NCAA Division III Championship with a 1,236 team score (312-299-311-314). The Eagles were the only team to shoot a sub-300 round and won the title by 35 strokes.

Patrick Cahill won medalist honors with a 14-over-par 302 total (76-72-76-78). Jake Gaudynski (Wisconsin Lutheran College) moved into second place with an even-par 72 on Tuesday to finish at 17-over-par.

CUW's Bill Jones (sophomore, New Holstein, Wis.) tied for 29th after ending with a 340 total (87-83-89-87), while junior Chris Payne (Waukesha, Wis.) tied for 31st with a 344 total (81-87-89-87). Sophomore Jason Meyer (Dunlap, Ill.) rounded out the Falcons lineup with a 90-85 scores, but didn't qualify for the leaderboard because he didn't compete in the first or second rounds.

CUW will conclude the 2013-14 season with the Carthage College Spring Invitational on Tuesday, April 29 at Kenosha Country Club in Somers, Wis.
