Men's Golf competes at Naperville Collegiate Invitational

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Concordia University Wisconsin competed in a grueling 36-hole event on Monday at the Naperville Collegiate Invitational. The Falcons sent two teams and finished seventh and 10th, respectively, with Bill Jones tying for 12th place to lead the teams.

CUW posted a 338 and 339 in the opening round before shooting a 335 and 341 at the par 72, 6,838 yard Cress Creek Country Club.

Jones (sophomore, New Holstein, Wis.) shot an 82-80 to pace CUW, while sophomore Jason Meyer (Dunlap, Ill.) and freshman Josh Denk (Markesan, Wis.) each tied for 17th after firing 164 totals. Meyer finished 84-80 and Denk had a pair of 82.

Wheaton College won the Invitational after shooting a 615 total (318-297), while Aurora University finished in second with a 646 total (330-316).

Medalist honors were awarded to Matt Adams (Wheaton College) after he carded a 6-over-par 150 total (79-71). Tommy Cardle (Wheaton College) and David Burnham (Wheaton College) tied for second with a 152 total.

Sophomore Elijah Glasenapp (Milwaukee, Wis.) led the Falcons on par 3s with a 3.62 average, while Denk averaged a 4.45 on par 4s. CUW posted 16 combined birdies and 120 pars.

CUW returns to the links on Sunday and Monday for the two-day Wisconsin Lutheran College Invitational at Washington County Golf Course in Hartford, Wis.
