Men's Golf finishes 13th at Pilot Invitational

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Concordia University Wisconsin finished in 13th at the Pilot Spring Invitational at Blackthorn Golf Course. Evan Rabas led the Falcons with a tie for 38th place.

The Falcons fell six spots after the opening day of the Invitational and finished with a 659 total (318-341). Their first round 318 total was tied for the fourth lowest team score of the year.

Saint Xavier University won the team title with a 588 total (288-300) to win by eight strokes. Host Bethel College (Indiana) took second place with a 596 total (292-304), while Ashford University was third with 597 team score (302-295).

Rabas (freshman, Sherwood, Wis.), junior Chris Payne (Waukesha, Wis.) and sophomore Bill Jones (New Holstein, Wis.) all fired sub-80 rounds during Friday's first round. Rabas tied for 38th after shooting a 15-over-par 159 total (78-81).

Ryan Hilton (Ashford University) won medalist honors with an even-par 144 total (71-73). James Kerr (Saint Xavier University) and Drew Day (Bethel College (Indiana)) tied for second with a 1-over-par 145 two-day total.

Payne finished in a tie for 51st after shooting a 20-over-par 164 total (79-85). Jones shot 78-91 for a 169 two day total to tie for 60th place. Sophomore Jason Meyer (Dunlap, Ill.) ended in a tie for 63rd after shooting a 170 total (83-87). Sophomore Mike Loftus (Germantown, Wis.) rounded out the lineup with a 173 score (85-88) to tie for 70th.

CUW's next event will be the third and fourth rounds of the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Championship beginning on Monday, April 21 at Stonebridge Country Club in Aurora, Ill.
