Averkamp named Men's Golf coach

MEQUON, Wis. – Charlie Averkamp has been named the Concordia University Wisconsin Men's Golf head coach, as announced by Director of Athletics Dr. Rob Barnhill on Wednesday morning.

"I am pleased to announce that we have hired Charlie Averkamp as our men's golf head coach," Barnhill said. "Charlie will serve in that capacity in addition to his duties as an assistant women's basketball coach. He has the recruiting experience we need and will be a valuable resource for the team members as a full-time coach."

Averkamp takes over for Ben Rohde who stepped down after the fall season to concentrate on his full-time job as the Director of CUW Career Services.

"I would like to thank Dr. Barnhill for this great opportunity with CUW," Averkamp said. "I have enjoyed being a part of this athletic department and look forward to the challenge of developing a championship golf program. As a former NCAA Division III student-athlete, I understand the commitment it takes to compete at this level and I can't wait to get to work with the group of student-athletes we have here at CUW."

Averkamp played men's basketball collegiately at Edgewood College on the men's basketball team where he finished with 1,454 points, 908 rebounds and 265 assists, which each rank in the top 13 in Eagles history. He then accepted a graduate assistant women's basketball coaching position at CUW and has since been elevated to full-time assistant coach this past summer.

Averkamp graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in business management from EC in 2009 and with a Master's Degree in business administration from CUW in 2013.
