Falcons fall to D. 1 Valpo 83- 57

Valpo outscored Concordia 51-22 in the first half on the way to an
83- 57 win last evening in Valparaiso, Indiana. The much taller
hosts pounded the ball inside early and often, hitting 60% of their
shots over the initial 20 minutes in front of 2400 happy fans.
Shawn Cassidy's team trailed by a competitive 17-11 count with
12:52 remaining in the opening segment before Valpo went on a 10-0
run to take total control.
To Concordia's credit, it was a different story after the break as
CUW showed resolve on both ends of the court, actually outscoring
their D.1 foe 35 -32 down the stretch.
Sophomore Mitchell Schneider connected on 5 of his 9 shots from
beyond the arc over the course of the game and led Falcon scorers
with 17 points in his best performance of the season.
Guard Brandon Wood (21 points) and forward Cory Johnson (20) led
the lanky hosts offensively. Valparaiso controlled rebounding 45-
32 and shot 53% for the game while holding Concordia to 31%
efficiency.
Both teams are now 5-6 on the season as they head into the
Christmas break.
