MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin field hockey team celebrated senior day on Sunday afternoon against Sewanee. The Tigers took the contest with a 3-0 victory to send the Falcons to 2-10 and 0-3 in the Collegiate Field Hockey Conference.
The Falcons honored senior Paige Armijo from Reseda, California, before the contest on Sunday morning.
Sewanee struck first on Sunday with a goal 85 seconds into the contest.
The Falcons had a shot in the seventh minute off a corner from sophomore Leah Mouganis (Pittsburgh, Pa.) when freshman Hannah Lawson (St. Louis, Mo.) had a shot blocked.
The Blue and White also had a shot go wide in the 14th minute off the stick of Paige Armijo.
The Tigers scored again in the 25th minute to take a 2-0 lead.
Sophomore Parks Cawthray (Oakville, Ontario) had six saves in the first half.
As the rain fell, Sewanee secured its third goal in the 37th minute.
Freshman Carlijn van der Bend stopped a pair of breakaway shots in the second half and had five saves.
Sewanee held a 24-2 advantage in shots on Sunday and a 12-2 margin in penalty corners.
The Tigers improve to 8-6 and 2-0 in the Collegiate Field Hockey Conference.
The Falcons return to conference play on Saturday at Centre.
