GAMBIER, Ohio – The Falcons fell in heartbreaking fashion on Saturday afternoon at Kenyon. The Owls rallied to win in the Benson Bowl in overtime, 2-1. The loss moves Concordia to 1-2 on the year.
The first half saw Kenyon post a 13-0 shot advantage on Saturday.
Sophomore Parks Cawthray (Oakville, Ont.) posted six saves in the first half.
Freshman Naomi Little (Hartland, Wis.) scored her first collegiate goal in the 35th minute off a rebound from a shot from junior Katie Quirke (Antioch, Ill.) for the first two shots in the game for CUW.
The Owls tied the game late in the 55th minute off a penalty corner to force overtime.
The Falcons had some chances in the extra session, with a pair of shots from sophomore Leah Mouganis (Pittsburgh, Pa.), but the Owls swooped into the back of the net in the 67th minute to secure the victory.
Parks Cawthray had nine saves on Saturday at Kenyon.
The Owls held a 23-7 advantage in shots against the Falcons. Katie Quirke led the flock with three shots.
The Purple and White also held a 16-6 advantage in penalty corners on Saturday.
The Falcons look to break even in the Buckeye state on Sunday at Denison.
