GRANVILLE, Ohio – The Concordia Wisconsin field hockey team closed the weekend against the Big Red of Denison. The Big Red picked up a 4-2 victory to send the Falcons to 1-3 on the year.
The Falcons struck first on Sunday morning with a penalty corner in the sixth minute. Sophomore Emily Robertson (Canton, Mich.) lobbed the ball into the cage off a rebound on a shot from junior Katelyn Cardinale (Mt. Laurel, N.J.).
The Big Red responded with a goal four minutes later with a loose ball in front of the goal.
Denison opened the second quarter with a goal off of a turnover in the first minute of the quarter.
The Big Red struck again in the 39th minute on a goal off a rebound off an initial save. Denison then added to the lead with another goal in the 53rd minute.
The Sunday scoring closed when senior Paige Armijo (Reseda, Calif.) deflected in a shot from sophomore Caitlyn Weitzel (Fallston, Md.) in the 55th minute.
Denison held an 18-6 advantage in shots on Sunday.
Caitlyn Weitzel led the Falcons with two shots on Sunday.
Sophomore Parks Cawthray (Oakville, Ontario) finished with three saves on the day.
The Falcons will return to Ohio next weekend against Wooster and Wittenberg.
