Football raises money for Donald Driver Foundation with 3-on-3 Tournament

MEQUON, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin's senior football class raised over $1,400 for the Donald Driver Foundation on May 11 after hosting the 3rd Annual May Madness 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament.

The 2013 seniors setup the tournament, administered the three division (A, B, Coed) and participated on the court throughout the day. They chose the Donald Driver Foundation because of its mission to assist underprivileged children and families, especially in the state of Wisconsin.

"We all thought helping children would be best and Donald's foundation does that," senior Alex Verbencour (De Pere, Wis.) said. "We, as football players, understand the sacrifices that we go through and our parents go through for us, so helping others who cannot receive what we have is important to us."

CUW begins its season on Sept. 7 with a non-conference game against Augsburg College at 1 p.m. at Tomasini Stadium.

The mission of the Donald Driver Foundation is to display Strong Hands, Strong Minds, and Loving Hearts to serve as a hand up, not a hand out. The Donald Driver Foundation has a core focus in serving underprivileged children and families by addressing health, wellness, safety, education, and career development.
