Damaschke named WFCA Private College Player of the Year

MEQUON, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin quarterback Austin Damaschke has been named Private College Player of the Year by the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association, the organization announced.

"Austin in a complete student-athlete and I am proud that he received this honor," head coach Greg Etter said. "He is one of the hardest workers on this football team, on and off the field. Austin is one of those players that a head coach is glad to have on his side, especially for two more years. He puts in the time to become a better quarterback, but puts in more time to be a better student"

The sophomore gunslinger finished with one of the best seasons by a signal caller in program history, leading the team to seven victories. The Bristol, Wis., native threw for 2,440 yards and 25 touchdowns on 211-of-319 passing (66.1 percent). He ran for a team-best 252 yards and found the end zone three times with his feet.

This season he set single-game career-highs in completions (28), passing attempts (44) completion percentage (79.2), passing yards (390), touchdown passes (6), rushing attempts (21), rushing yards (70) and rushing touchdowns (1).

He was named All-Northern Athletics Conference Second Team last week and maintains a 3.7 grade point average as a biology major.
